This has been an extremely successful year of planting design at Butterworth Horticulture, and we have been very much present on the 2019 Show Garden scene.
In June of this year, Jamie, with Keyscape Gardens by his side, built a record-breaking garden for the headline sponsor, Wedgwood, at this years RHS Chatsworth Flower Show. His debut garden not only won an RHS Gold Medal, but awards for Best Construction, Best Show Garden and the coveted People’s Choice Award.
However, Jamie is not the only member of the Butterworth team to design a successful show garden this year. In May of this year, both Gaby and Stacey designed medal-winning gardens at RHS Malvern Spring Show, for a Mediterranean Terrace and ‘Ikhaya’, a South African inspired balcony garden.
Our venue dressing hats were also put to use, designing the main stage at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, and clothing a trade stand for our friends at Oak Leaf Gates at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
Our designs for these projects consumed a lot of our time. Yet with late nights, takeaways and copious amounts of coffee we have designed successful planting schemes for many projects, from local residential gardens, to large rural estates.
Our little black book of plant traders has been well-thumbed this year, us having supplied thousands of plants to every one of our design and soft-landscaping projects. The supply sector of the company has worked seamlessly with our soft-landscaping team.
We have supplied and installed all things green, big and small. From 15 metre oak trees, to hundreds of 9cm perennial plants, we’ve proven to ourselves that no job is too big nor too small! We’ve taken plenty of trips to Holland, tagging trees and gawping at beauties that we cannot wait to use in our future projects.
We have a dedicated soft-landscaping team that has travelled country wide, from mass perennial planting in North Yorkshire to tree installations in Gloucester, from an abundance of yew domes in Kensington to irrigation installation in Derbyshire. We’ve planted up some beautiful gardens all over the country, which was Jamie’s sole intent when he established the company.
The aftercare subdivision of the business is booming, we’ve won contracts with prestigious garden designers throughout the Home Counties and all over London, from Holland Park to Brick Lane. Not long after our launch, aftercare contracts swarmed in so rapidly that yet another van had to be purchased! We’ve been busy pruning and preening, watering and weeding, mulching and mowing our way through Southern England.
Butterworth Horticulture’s roots have been firmly established on the horticultural scene, with a growing team it’s been a blooming good year!
We are immensely proud of our staff, our relationships with sub-contractors and suppliers, and grateful for all of the industry support that we have received. Cheers to Butterworth Horticulture, and to many more years of success!
