Ultimately, our work invloves nurturing and tending to gardens in order to help them grow, and it is important to apply this ethos to world around us as well. As we affectionately prune and preen our beloved plants, it is important to extend this care to our own – an industry that works tirelessly to care for our outdoor spaces.
We care deeply about our line of work; suppliers, landscaping and design clients, our partners – not to mention the Butterworth Horticulture staff. As a company, we wanted to do more to support our peers as well as help the industry to thrive. This encouraged Butterworth Horticulture’s decision to become a platinum partner of Perennial, a means of giving back to the horticultural industry.
There is one single charity in the UK dedicated to aiding any employee of the horticultural world, and their loved ones, when life might take them down a unexpected path. Perennial work determinedly to provide confidential advice, support and financial assistance to horticulturists of all ages, a service that even extends to retirees.
Our managing director, Jamie Butterworth, explains:
“We are delighted to be recognised as a Perennial Platinum partner. The work that Perennial does forms the backbone of caring for our industry.
Staff wellbeing is intrinsic to our success as a soft-landscaping company, therefore we see our partnership as a commitment to the safeguarding of not only our staff, but the industry as a whole”.
The entire team at Butterworth Horticulture are limbering up in preparation of running a half marathon next month, in hopes to raise over £1,000 for the charity. It is worth mentioning that although we may be first-rate horticulturists, the same cannot be said for our long-distance stamina. Our staff have been training for months (yes – even over the Christmas period!), in order to make it over the finish line on the 8th February. If you fancy joining us, do not hesitate to get in touch with a member of our team – we’d be delighted to have you on board!
We are also delighted to be supplying a gorgeous specimen tree as a prize for the raffle at this years annual Party Perennial at the end of the month. Not only is this event plenty of fun and a brilliant opportunity to network early on in the year, but also a chance to celebrate the work of this wonderful charity. The team are so excited to attend and contribute towards the evenings sales; the money from which will be used to support Perennial’s endeavours to care for and advise people in horticulture.
Our platinum partnership is only the beginning, and we look forward to participating in future fundraising pursuits. We are eternally grateful that our industry is able work safely and happily in the knowledge that the incredible staff at Perennial are there to support us.
